The Exchange is a private, membership-only lifestyle and social club for couples and singles of all orientations in the Raleigh area — straight, gay, bisexual, and everyone in between — who want a discreet, vetted space to connect. Membership is by application, and every member completes an identity and background check before approval.

Four steps: fill out a short application, pay a one-time $65 Application & Verification Fee, complete a quick identity check through our screening partner Checkr, and you're in. Most applicants are cleared to choose a membership tier within minutes — a deeper background check keeps running quietly in the background and finishes before your first visit.

The fee covers the actual cost of the background and identity verification we run on every applicant through Checkr. It's charged once at the time you apply, and it's non-refundable regardless of outcome — the verification cost is incurred whether or not you're ultimately approved.

The first stage is automated and usually takes just a few minutes — that's what unlocks your ability to choose a membership tier. A more thorough check continues afterward and typically resolves within a few business days, well before your first visit.

Checkr handles your sensitive information directly — your SSN and ID documents are entered on Checkr's own secure page and never touch our servers. We only ever receive the final result of your check, not the underlying details.

Founding Member locks in a rate for life with extra perks, billed annually. Couple and Single memberships are billed monthly and cover full access for two people or one, respectively. Guest Pass is a single-visit pass sponsored by an existing member, for people trying the club before committing to membership. Full pricing is on the Membership page.

An existing member sponsors a guest for either an evening ($40) or a week ($75). It's limited to two guest passes per sponsoring member per month, to keep the club's vetting standards meaningful. If a guest joins as a full member within 30 days, the Guest Pass cost is credited toward their membership.

Yes. Monthly memberships can be paused for life's normal interruptions — travel, a slow season, whatever comes up — rather than requiring a full cancellation. You have up to 3 pause credits per year, each covering 30 days. Use one credit for a 30-day pause, two for 60 days, or all three for 90 days. Your membership auto-resumes when the pause period ends. A fourth pause in the same year will result in automatic cancellation. You can also cancel anytime — your current month will be prorated, or give 7 days notice to avoid the next billing cycle. Yes — The Exchange holds a full Mixed Beverages permit and operates a complete bar serving cocktails, spirits, wine, champagne, beer, and cider. Members may also bring their own wine or champagne — a $5 corkage fee applies. Outside spirits and beer may not be brought in.

Phones stay away on the floor — no exceptions. Discretion is the foundation the whole club is built on, and that applies to every member, every visit.

Dress code details, event timing, and what to expect at The Exchange will be sent via email immediately after your membership is confirmed. Please note that nudity may be observed on premises.

Completely. What happens at The Exchange, and who you meet there, stays there. That standard applies to every member equally.

Monthly and annual dues bill on the anniversary of your signup date going forward. The Application & Verification Fee is separate and charged once, at the time you apply — $65 per person, so $130 for couple applications.
